Selama pandemi global COVID-19, kerja sama Jepang-Indonesia mulai melibatkan sektor kesehatan dan semakin kuat. Menyadari adanya keterkaitan antara sejarah masa lalu dan hubungan kerjasama bilateral antara Indonesia dan Jepang, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyoroti hubungan kedua negara yang telah berkembang selama bertahun-tahun, khususnya di bidang kesehatan. Melalui lensa institusionalisme, esai ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap hubungan kerja sama Jepang-Indonesia selama pra dan pasca-COVID-19 yang melibatkan penggunaan badan kelembagaan dalam membangun sistem koordinasi untuk memfasilitasi pencapaian manfaat prospektif dari kerja sama; ini meningkatkan kemungkinan hasil yang sukses. Kerja sama bilateral antara Indonesia-Jepang menunjukkan bahwa tantangan bersama, seperti pandemi, juga dapat diselesaikan melalui kerja sama aktif.
