Penelitian pendidikan islam memiliki dasar-dasar komponen yang berpegang teguh pada nilai islam itu sendiri dengan bersandar pada Al-Qur’an, al-Sunnah. Pada prinsipnya islam tidak menolak segala teori yang dikembangkan oleh ahli-ahli sekuler. Semua teori dapat digunakan selama tidak bertentangan dengan ajaran islam, dengan ini kita dapat menarik kesimpulan bahwa penelitian pendidikan islam memiliki landasan yang disebut dasar-dasar yang berfungsi sebagai cara ilmiah untuk mendapatkan data atau informasisebagaimana adanya dan bukan sebagaimana seharusnya dengan tujuan dankegunaan tertentu yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan Islam.
